The Desert Fennecs of Algeria will play host to Ethiopia over the weekend in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.
Although Algeria have a 100% unbeaten run in the campaign, they are hungry to prove a point in-front of their home fans. But the Ethiopian team that is third in Group B with three points also need a win if they hope of improving their chances of qualification.
The home side is expected to give chance to Etoile du Sahel striker Baghdad Bounedjah. He will be in competition with Islam Slimani and Hilel Soudani upfront. Porto FC attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi, recently nominated for both CAF African Player of the Year and BBC African Footballer of the Year is also expected to feature in the game.
After their 3-2 win away to Mali last month, the Ethiopians are hungry to register a second win away from home. “We are aware Algeria is a very strong team, but we shall be up to the task,” Ethiopia’s Coach Jeronimo Mariano Barreto told MTNFootball.com.
Barreto will however miss the services of the injured Saladin Said and Getaneh Kabede who will be serving a suspension. The team will hope that Oumed Oukri and Abebaw Butako who scored against Mali can find their scoring form.
