Nigeria midfielder Solomon Jabason has joined top Sudanese club Al Merreikh from Ahli Benghazi of Libya, the club announced on Monday.

The former Wikki Tourists star said he was delighted to join the Sudanese team and hopes to win the CAF Champions League with the Khartoum club.

"My success with the team Ahli Benghazi puts me under great advantage to play for Al Merreikh because I did not I come to Sudan as a relatively unknown player, they know me well having played in Champions League,” he told the club’s website.

“I was given a rousing welcome by the club president’ s and the members of the board of directors and staff, something that made me happy to join them and I hope to have a good career here."

Jabason, who has been capped by Nigeria at full international level, has had to quit Libya after the war there caused the league to the suspended.

 Other Nigeria stars who have featured for Al Merreikh are Kelechi Osunwa, late Endurance Idahor and Stephen Worgu.
