Mozambique make a last minute dash in the race for the lone third best qualifying spot up for grabs at the 2015 Africa Cup when they visit Niger on Wednesday.
The Mambas have failed to secure a top two place in the Group F qualifiers after losing 1-0 at home in Maputo on Saturday to second placed Zambia who have 8 points.
However, third placed Mozambique on 5 points are unable to usurp Zambia even if the latter lose at home on Wednesday to leaders Cape Verde due to Chipolopolo’s better head-to-head ratio in Group F over The Mambas.
"We have to be confident and beat Niger in the last round," Mozambique defender Miro said.
"We have to utilize this final game in the best way possible by winning the Niger."
But Mozambique face strong contention from Guinea who are favourites ahead of Congo, Egypt, DR Congo, Malawi and Angola respectively in the race for the bonus ticket to Bata.
Meanwhile, The Mambas also have a big psychological test awaiting them in Niamey.
Bottom placed Niger, who are out of contention on two points, are unbeaten against Mozambique in Group F after leaving Maputo with a 1-1 draw on September 10.
