Zambia beat Cape Verde 1-0 on Wednesday. Here is how we rated Chipolopolo in that match.
-Kennedy Mweene: The Zambia goalkeeper had a fairly modest game although Garry Rodrigues and Antonio Monteiro tested him from set pieces-7/10
-Donashano Malama: He kept Rodrigues in check and took no prisoners that saw him get a yellow card after a meaty tackle on Heldon Ramos who was stretchered off in the 66th minute. 6/10
-Christopher Munthali: Short on pace but had a much improved performance after his suspect display against Mozambique. 5/10
-Nyambe Mulenga:Had another solid game but was heaped with extra workload trying to cover for Munthali. 7/10
-Emmanuel Mbola:Great overlapping play and excellent chemistry with Kalaba on the left wing. 7/10
-Bruce Musakanya: Musakanya was on fire for the opening 30 minutes before drifting out of the match and substituted in the 48th minute. 5/10
-Nathan Sinkala: Sat deep in midfield and made sure Cape Verde felt his physical presence just in front of his back four. Was very unfortunate to see his long-range drive come off the woodwork. 7/10
-Given Singuluma: Limped off in the 33rd minute with a suspected thigh injury but kept it simple in midfield before he was replaced by Chisamba Lungu.5/10
-Rainford Kalaba: Kalaba terrorised Cape Verde backline but again his final touch let him down.
He also set up some good chances for Emmanuel Mayuka and Reynold Kampamba that came to nothing. 8/10
-Reynold Kampamba: Redeemed himself with a stunning goal in the 78th minute after missing a sitter in the 58th minute. 8/10
-Emmanuel Mayuka: Mayuka had at least five clear chances on goal including an unforgivable miss in the 82nd minute from close range that he skied. 5/10
Subs Used:
-Chisamba Lungu (On for Given Singuluma 32nd minute): Brought some life to Zambia's right wing and relief to an overworked Kalaba.
Setup Sinkala for his drive that came off the woodwork and was architect of Kampamba's goal. 9/10
-Lubambo Musonda (On for Bruce Musakanya 48"): His crosses from the right kept Cape Verde busy but had a speculative long range shot in the 68th minute rising and not bothering goalkeeper Kevin Sousa. 6/10
