Séwé Sport’s midfielder Christian Koffi Kouamé says that the CAF Confederation Cup would be his best farewell gift to his club.
The Côte d’Ivoire international signed a five-year contract with DR Congo’s giants TP Mazembe, whom he will join after their double clash with Al Ahly in the continental final.
“It is a very special match for me as I am dreaming of taking the CAF Confederation Cup for Séwé before I leave. It would be for me the best way to say good bye to the team that gave me everything,” Kouamé told Africanfootball.com.
The two sides already met in the Group stage of the competition, with the Egyptians holding the Ivoirians to a 1-1 draw in Abidjan before securing a 1-0 home victory in Cairo.
“We cannot lose this match as it is a final. And it will also be for us the opportunity to take revenge on Al Ahly.
“We are preparing mentally, tactically and physically. My teammates and I are extremely focused. There is no time to sit back and relax.”
And while Kouamé acknowledges the strength of their opponents, he is determined to make history with the San Pedro’s outfit.
“It is true that Ahly are a great team, in terms of honours, infrastructures, financial resources. But on the pitch, it will be 11 players facing 11 players. We don’t have anything to fear. We need to have a winning spirit.
“We ask all Ivoirians to come and support us. We will not disappoint them.”
