Uganda’s representatives KCCA FC face a tough test when they battle Cosmos De Bafia in the second leg of the CAF Champions League away on Sunday.
After winning the first leg 1-0, Coach Abudallah Mubiru is aware of the huge task ahead when they battle on Sunday in Doula. “We shall not take them for granted because every team is very comfortable playing at home,” said Mubiru before departing for Cameroon on Wednesday.
KCCA FC who bowed out at the first round after losing to Zambia’s Nkana FC last year will need a draw or a win to qualify for the next stage. They will however need to keep a close watch on the Cosmos De Bafia stars Marcel Guy Ntjaka and Jacques Jean Mbassi.
Mubiru said they will try to get early goals which will put the home side more on pressure. “I have told my players that we need to start very hungry for early goals because it would be dangerous to concede first,” explained Mubiru.
The team however did not travel with influential winger Joseph Ochaya who is yet to secure a Confederation of African Football (CAF) clearance to play in the tournament. He was cleared by Fifa’s Player Statues Committee two weeks ago to leave Ghana’s Asante Kotoko to join a team of his choice.
Striker Herman Wasswa who scored the lone goal in Kampala said he will be eager to score as many goals to help the team qualify for the Group stage. Tom Masiko, Owen Kasule, Paul Mucureezi, William Wadri and Ivan Ntege are also expected to play key roles for the Ugandan League Champions.
