Power Dynamos coach Tennant Chilumba says it was not easy to outwit Kwesi Appiah's Al Khartoum despite beating them 2-0 to advance to the first round of the 2015 Confederation Cup.

Power beat their guests’ from Sudan on Sunday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe to advance 2-1 on aggregate from the preliminary round of the competition.

It took a stoppage time penalty converted by striker Alex Ngonga after the 90 minutes to end the ex-Black Stars coach's hopes of guiding Al Khartoum to the first round of the competition following his appointment in December.

"Al Khartoum of course gave us a tough game and they are a very tactical team. You just have to look at their rich technical bench," Chilumba said.

“We stuck to our game plan and I think we came back stronger in the second half.

"Of course we struggled, we didn't create more chances than we wanted but I think we did well in midfield."

The win ended Power's three-match losing run in continental action against Sudanese opposition dating back to the 2001 CAF Champions League when they lost 2-0 away and 2-1 in the first round at home in Kitwe.

Power face CF Mounana of Gabon away in the first leg on March 15 in Libreville. CLICK HERE TO VISIT AFRICAN FOOTBALL ZAMBIA
