Brighton Mhlongo of Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler believes his goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo is still young and is growing as net minder.
Tinkler was speaking to the media during a press conference at FNB Stadium ahead of the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs this coming Saturday.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder said Mhlongo took over from a top player in Senzo Meyiwa and he’s showing signs of being a great keeper.
“First and foremost I don’t want to give that away, but at the same time, Brighton has done exceptionally well, there’s no need to change,” said Tinkler.
“He’s young and he took over from Senzo, those were difficult shoes to fill and he’s done well.
“Singling out players due to mistakes could dent heir confidence, I’ve been happy with his performances.
“He’s not responsible for conceding that goal against Free State Stars, it was a good strike from Moeketsi Sekola and (Siyabonga) Mpontshane supports him 100%.
“There’s a healthy competition in the goalkeeping department, all the players are supportive and that’s very important.”
Should Pirates beat Amakhosi on Saturday, they will leapfrog Mamelodi Sundowns to position three as they’ll be on 39 points provided that Pitso Mosimane’s men fail to bag the three points against the Ea Lla Koto.
The match gets underway at 15:30 at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
