The South African Football Association (SAFA) confirmed on Friday that Bafana Bafana will host Nigeria in an international friendly at Mbombela Stadium on 29 March.
AfricanFootball.com revealed earlier today that Nigeria Football Federation's (NNF) vice president had landed in South Africa ahead of the announcement at SAFA House in Johannesburg.
Bafana Bafana had long been searching for possible takers with Egypt and Argentina tipped as possible suitors.
The South Americans though declined with their focus set on the 2015 Copa America which kicks-off in Chile on 11 June.
Bafana Bafana and the Super Eagles met in two 2015 Afcon qualifiers last year with the the teams playing to a goalless draw in Cape Town before the 2-2 stalemate in Uyo, which effectively ended Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the showpiece, which came to an end in Equatorial Guinea last month.
South Africa have recorded only one win against the Super Eagles, winning a friendly game 2-1 in the Mandela Challenge in November 2004.
Meanwhile in the wake of their runners-up finish at the Under-17 African Youth Championship, Amajimbos will face Mali in the curtain raiser for the match between Bafana and Nigeria.
Mali beat South Africa's under-17's in the final last month.
