Mali and Zambia will be looking to get their 2015 CAF African U-20 Championship off to a flying start when they meet in their opening Group B match on Monday evening.

Kick-off at the Stade Carolin Faye in M’Bour is set for 21h30 CAT.

This will be something of a revenge match for Zambia and coach Hector Chilombo, as Mali denied the Junior Chipolopolo a slot in the 2013 AYC finals with a 5-2 aggregate victory in the qualifiers.

Zambia are making their fifth appearance at the African U-20 Championship after competing at the 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2007 editions.

Chilombo has targeted this opening match as must-win for his troops (ahead of matches against other Group B opponents South Africa and Ghana), but has acknowledged that the young Eagles will be tough to beat.

Mali, with coach Moussa Keita at the helm, enter the tournament as one of the dark horses to go all the way.

Keita’s main aim is to qualify for the semifinals and thereby earn a spot at the FIFA U-20 World Cup later this year, but believes his side is capable of claiming a first AYC title.

The referee for the match is Hagi Yabarow Wiish from Somalia.
