Flying Eagles assistant coach Nduka Ugbade has said Zambia ought to still be contention at the AYC because they are a terrific side.

Zambia and South Africa have both been eliminated from the tournament as West Africans Ghana and Mali booked their tickets to the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup from Group B.

“Zambia are a terrific side, quick and very talented with some very outstanding players like the numbers 20 (Dave Daka), 7 (Patrick Ngoma) and 9 (Charles Zulu),” said Ugbade, who was at the Caroline Faye Stadium in Mbour on Thursday to watch the Group B match involving Zambia and Ghana.

“They and not Mali should be heading to the World Cup and the semifinals of the AYC.

“It’s a big loss for the tournament that Zambia have now been eliminated. But that’s football for you.”

Ghana and Mali will on Sunday battle for the leadership of Group B with the eventual winners to square up against the runners-up in Group A, which will only be known on Saturday, while the runners-up in Group B clash with the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.
