Ugandan born Coach George Nsimbe guided Azam FC to top of the Vodacom Tanzania Premier League on Tuesday.

Burundian International Didier Kavumbagu netted the lone goal in the 24th minute to send Azam FC to 33 points, while Young Africans who have a game have 31 points. “We are trying to work hard because we want to try and retain the League trophy,” said Nsimbe who replaced Cameroonian Coach Joseph Omog.

In the first match in-charge of the team, Nsimbe’s Azam FC stopped JKT Ruvu 1-0 on March 7th. In the other game played on Sunday Mbeya City held Mgambo JKT to a goalless draw.

On Saturday Uganda International Emmanuel Okwi netted his seventh goal in the League to help Simba SC stop Mtibwa Sugar 1-0. The former Etoile Du Sahel striker in the Tunisian League also scored in the 1-0 win over arch rivals Young Africans two weeks ago. Simba SC are third on the log with 29 points.
