Nigeria’s Dolphins have been thrown out of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup after they failed to arrive in time for last weekend’s tie against Club Africain of Tunisia.
According to CAF, the decision by the interclubs organising committee was reached after studying the reports of the match officials and correspondences with the various concerned parties.
The committee stated that this was not a case of force majeure and Dolphins ought to have notified the host team of any changes in their travel plans at least two weeks to the match.
Dolphins only did so a day to the match.
CAF thus applied Article 17 to eliminate the Nigerian club, who will also pay a fine of $2,000.
