Zamalek will be hosting FUS Rabat in Suez on Sunday, in the first leg of their Confederation Cup last 16 clash.

Regular CAF Champions League challengers and five-time African champions, the Cairo giants are making this year their first appearance in the continent’s second-tier clubs competition under its current format.

The ‘White Knights’ cruised past Rwandan outfit Rayon Sports with a 6-1 aggregate win in the previous round, and will try to keep their momentum going against the Moroccans in their quest to emulate arch-rivals Al Ahly who became the first Egyptian side to lift the Confederation Cup in last year’s edition.

And coach Jesualdo Ferreira’s men are approaching the game with great confidence, after defeating Smouha 1-0 in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday to remain seven points clear of nearest challengers ENNPI at the top of the national table.

2010 Confederation Cup winners Fath Union Sport also enjoyed a comfortable win in the tournament’s round of 32, getting past AS Togo Port de Lomé 4-2 on aggregate, and will be looking to repeat their previous achievement in the competition that saw them reach the last 8 in 2013.

The two sides will meet for the first time in a CAF official tournament, with the game to kick off at the Suez Stadium at 19h00 CAT on Sunday.
