Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane didn't pay much attention to the manner in which his side beat Vasco da Gama on Sunday, explaining that reaching the final was the most important thing for his side.
The Brazilians had to see off intense pressure from the National First Division outfit who dominated the opening exchanges, but ultimately found the break through with their first shot at goal.
Mzikayise Mashaba was the unlikely hero, his left-footed rocket just short of the hour booking 'Downs a place in the showpiece final alongside Ajax Cape Town.
"My job is to make sure the team goes into the final and we are in the final. It is not about rushing in and showing off, playing ball possession and what not. It is about going to the final," said Mosimane.
"I chose this approach. You know Chelsea they want to win against Arsenal, they want the three points, take the three points. Today was all about going to the final and we are in the final, who cares about ball possession.
"We always have ball possession, we had ball possession against Bloemfontein Celtic and we lost 5-0. People are singing and they want to go the final and I delivered."
Mosimane was delighted with the character his troops showed in seeing off Vasco after losing their league title to Kaizer Chiefs last week.
"Of course Ajax, a young and explosive team with a lot of passion and hunger. They can score two goals in five minutes, but I am so happy for the Sundowns family," Mosimane continued.
"When the chips are down you need to win when it matters most and we won when it matters most. We come from very big adversity and the best thing we could do is to take the team to the final.
"We are in the final and it is okay, we are happy. They had their chances let's be honest, but once we scored I knew they really didn't have the power. We won and that matters most."
