ASO Chlef will travel to the Tunisian capital to battle Club Africain in the Confederation Cup on Friday, in the return leg of their round of 16 tie.
The Algerians are facing an uphill task after being held to a 1-1 draw at Stade Mohamed Boumezrag in the first leg.
However, the situation could have been worse for Mohamed Benchouia’s men, who grabbed a late equaliser through Ivoirian striker Patrick Kwako after Saber Khalifa had given the visitors the lead just past the hour mark.
“Yes, we were held to a draw at home, but we still have a chance ahead of the return leg. My players had a good second half, managing to equalise in the last minutes of the game,” the ASO Chlef coach said after the match.
But Club Africain have momentum and confidence on their side. While the ‘Chéliff Lions’ are fighting for survival in the Algerian topflight, CA are neck-and-neck with Espérance de Tunis at the top of the Tunisian table and eyeing their first national crown since 2008.
The match will kick off at Stade Olympique de Radès at 19h00
