Thamsanqa Gabuza and Oupa Manyisa guided Orlando Pirates past AS Kaloum in their CAF Confederation Cup Playoff match in Stade Modibo Keita in Mali.
The game, which ended 2-0, was played in Mali and not Guinea due to the Ebola virus.
Gabuza's goal was his first in a Bucs jersey, some 600 plus matches since he made his debut for Pirates.
The former Golden Arrows man gave Orlando Pirates an early lead in the first five minutes of the match as he found the back of the net with an assist from Lehlohonolo Majoro.
In the 31 minute Kaloum tried to push for an equalizer but Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo made the save and continued to shine in this encounter.
The first half ended with Orlando Pirates leading 1-0.
In the second half Bucs showed more determination and hunger to win as they created plenty scoring opportunities. Majoro also came close to doubling the score but his volley missed the target.
But in the 73rd minute, Bucs captain Manyisa scored the second goal for his side with a well executed volley.
As much as Kaloum tried to put Pirates on the back foot, the South Africans stood firm and defended very well.
Substitute Kermit Erasmus, who had come in for Majoro, had an opportunity to take the score to three in the dying minutes of the match but he missed the target with his attempt.
