Seychelles and Mauritius will meet in a dead rubber match in Group A of the 2015 Cosafa Cup at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Thursday, kick-off at 17h00 CAT.
With neither side able to claim a victory in the tournament thus far and therefore mathematically ruled out of qualifying for the quarterfinals, only pride will be at stake in this clash.
Seychelles at least have one point after drawing 0-0 with
Namibia in their opening match, though they were then beaten 1-0 by
Zimbabwe in their second outing to be eliminated from the running for the last eight.
Mauritius have had an even tougher time at the tournament, suffering back-to-back 2-0 defeats to
Zimbabwe and
Namibia to leave them in danger of picking up the wooden spoon – only a win against Seychelles will spare them this fate.
The teams have been regular combatants down the years, meeting in 20 official international matches. Mauritius have eight wins compared to seven for Seychelles, while five matches have been drawn.
They last met in the 2013 Cosafa Cup when Mauritius claimed an emphatic 4-0 win in the group stages.
