Cape Verde coach Rui Aguas has named a 22-man squad for their upcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.

The Blue Sharks will host the minnows in their opening Group F match in Praia on June 13.

Aguas has selected a squad which is predominantly overseas-based – just four of the players play their trade in Cape Verde’s domestic league.

However, they will be without influential winger Ryan Mendes, who is sidelined with a knee injury.

Cape Verde squad:

Goalkeepers: Kevin (Nacional, Portugal), William (Derby de São Vicente), Vozinha (Mindelense de São Vicente).

Defenders: Carlitos (AEL Limassol, Cyprus), Stopira (Videoton, Hungary), Jeffrey (DFC Dordretch, Holland), Kay (Universitatea Craiova, Romania), Steven Fortes (Le Havre, France), Vally (Clube Progresso de Lunda Sul, Angola), Nivaldo (Dínamo Minsk, Belarus).

Midfielders: Calú (Mindelense de São Vicente), Babanco (Estoril, Portugal), Nuno Rocha (Universitatea Craiova, Romania), Sérgio Semedo (Gil Vicente, Portugal), Tom (Oriental, Portugal).

Forwards: Djanini (Santos Laguna, Mexico), Odair Fortes (Reims, France), Brito (Boavista, Portugal), Rudy (Spartak do Fogo), Garry Mendes (Elche, Spain), Júlio Tavares (Dijon, France), Heldon (Córdoba, Spain).
