News reports emanating from Turkey is that former Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has joined Genclerbirligi as their new coach.
Baxter parted ways with the Soweto giants after leading them to two Absa Premiership league titles plus the Nedbank Cup and MTN8 Cup trophies respectively.
However, after breaking records in the 2014/15 PSL season, the English-born mentor left the Naturena-based outfit.
According to a local website, the former Bafana Bafana mentor has signed with the Turkish giants. His agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, said on Tuesday that a move was set to happen anytime.
Speaking to the Turkish media, the club’s president Ilhan Cavcav revealed that they have appointed Baxter.
“For a month I have spoken to various people about the coach and we have now concluded our contract with Baxter,” said Cavcav.
"The agreement that we have reached today needs the approval of the board of directors and I have submitted it to them."
During a press briefing a week ago at Chiefs’ village, Baxter told the media that he’s not going to be manning the Amakhosi bench next season due to what he called “tensions" as the reason.
Genclerbirligi is a club that the fallen Bafana icon and legend, John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu played for in Turkey from 1993 until 1995.
