Botswana will be looking at redeeming themselves when they take on Lesotho for their 2016 CHAN qualifiers on Sunday following their 2-0 defeat over Uganda in their opening AFCON qualifiers.
The two teams meet on Sunday where local based players are expected to expose themselves for bigger opportunities outside the country.
While the Botswana’s national senior soccer side carries a formidable line-up for Sunday’s match in Maseru, their opponents are not a walk in the park either.
Botswana coach Peter Butler said although the players performed very well, he was also disappointed with the Uganda defeat.
“I am still disappointed with the results against Uganda. I am hoping we will be able to overcome this by doing well on Sunday,” he said.
He, however, said the defeat was water under the bridge as they are now focused on the game against Lesotho.
Butler said he was confident that the team was made up of strong, young and hungry players.
“We have young players who are hungry for opportunities and are willing to play well for the team,” he said.
On the other hand, Lesotho will be coming into this match with some confidence after having started the COSAFA Cup well.
Early this year when the two young teams met in international friendly it was Lesotho that walked out victorious by 2-0.
