Mauritania enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Sierra Leone in Nouakchott on Saturday, in the return leg of their 2016 African Nations Championship preliminary qualifying round.

After securing a 2-1 win in the first leg a week ago, the ‘Mourabitounes’ advance to the next round 4-1 on aggregate.

Defensive midfielder Yalli Mohamed Dellahi gave Mauritania the lead in the 34th minute following a goalmouth scramble, while Boubacar Beyguily extending their advantage three minutes later to send the locals into the break with a two-goal cushion.

Coach Corentin Martins’ men hold onto their lead until the final whistle to cruise to the next round of qualifiers, where they will face Guinea-Bissau or Mali in October.
