Ugandan players in South Africa for trials

Three Ugandan players have traveled to South Africa for trails with Premier League side Orlando Pirates and Free State Stars.

On Sunday striker Frank Kalanda who was part of the Cranes team that qaulifed for the last phase of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) traveled for trials with Free State Stars FC.

Kalanda’s teammates at URA FC Yasser Mugerwa and Saidi Kyeyune also traveled on Monday for a two weeks trial period with Orlando Pirates. The three players were impressive when Orlando Pirates ejected URA FC in the CAF Confederations Cup two months ago.

“We are very happy that our players have got the chance to travel down South to try and impress during trials. We wish them all the best,” said URA FC’s secretary Henry Mayeku.

Three Ugandan players Geoffrey Massa (Bloemfontein Celtic), Boban Zirintusa (Polokwane City), Ivan Bukenya (Kaizer Chiefs) and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango.
