MC El Eulma will play host to fellow Algerians ES Sétif on Saturday
, in matchday 2 of the 2015 CAF Champions League in Group B.
Defeated 1-2 in Sétif by USM Alger in the opening game of their continental campaign, the defending champions will be desperate to grab their first points in the competition in yet another all Algerian clash.
“It is very difficult to accept this defeat as we really wanted to get off to a winning start in the competition,” Sétif’s Akram Djahnit told Le Buteur.
“The loss has a bitter taste, but this is not the end of the world. There are five matches left and fifteen points up for grabs. We must put the defeat behind us and focus on the remaining of the tournament. We are going to work hard to get a result against MC El Eulma and get our confidence back,” added the 24-year-old midfielder, who will be missing the rest of the competition after joining Kuwait-based outfit Al Arabi.
The ‘Black Eagle’ may also have to do in the absence of former skipper Farid Mellouli, who is about to complete his move to El-Kadissia in Saudi-Arabia, while new recruits Riad Keniche, Walid Chenine and Djamel Benlamri are yet to obtain their CAF licence.
Meanwhile, Mouloudia Club El Eulma find themselves in a similar situation after falling 2-0 to Al Merreikh in Omdurman, and are in dire need of points in their bid to reach the last four of the prestigious competition.
“After failing to get off to a positive start, we must react and that inevitably means sealing a victory against Sétif so we can revive our hopes in this group,” MC El Eulma caretaker coach Chérif Hadjar told dzfoot.com
It will be the first continental meeting between the two Algerian sides, who have, however, battled on the domestic stage last season, with Sétif recording a 1-0 victory in El Eulma before being held to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.
The game will kick off at Stade Messaoud Zeghar in El Eulma at 23h30
CAT on Saturday 11 July 2015.
