Steven Pienaar played 45 minutes for Everton in a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Stoke City in the Barclays Asia Trophy on Wednesday.
The game ended goalless after 90 minutes.
Pienaar, eager to reach full fitness ahead of the 2015/2016 Premeir League season, enjoyed a stellar first-half for the Toffees, linking up well with Romelu Lukaku down the left flank.
The former Bafana Bafana captain set up the Belgium on the cusp of half-time, but the burly forward's goal was chalked off due to him being offside.
Pienaar was plagued with injury throughout the whole of last season, with the now 33-year-old managing a mere five starts in all competitions.
Everton will face either Arsenal or the Singapore XI in the final of the pre-season tournament on Saturday.
