Congo will battle Guinea Bissau away from home
on Saturday, in their second Group E outing of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Held 1-1 by Kenya in Owando in their campaign opener last June, the Red Devils will be looking to pick up the lost points on the road, while Guinea Bissau will try to keep their momentum going after launching their AFCON journey with a convincing goalless draw in Zambia.
To face the ‘Wild Dogs’, Congo head coach Claude Leroy decided to leave out versatile defender Francis N’Ganga, Slovan Liberec’s attacking midfielder Dzon Delarge and Wydad Casablanca’s striker Fabrice Ondama, while the midfield duo of Jules Iloki and Dylan Bahamboula declined their call-up.
However, the Red Devils will be boosted by the return of star players Delvin Ndinga and Thievy Bifouma.
To prepare for the continental clash, the Congolese hosted African giants Ghana at Stade de l’Unité in Kintélé
on Tuesday, losing 2-3 to the Black Stars following a winner from Jordan Ayew deep into stoppage time.
The match will kick off at Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau at
18h00 CAT on Saturday 5 September 2015, with Kenya hosting Zambia in Nairobi the next day in the group’s other fixture.
