Thulani Hlatshwayo believes Bidvest Wits have one of the best defensive lines in the Absa Premiership this season and has reserved special praise for centre-back partner Buhle Mkhwanazi.

The Clever Boys held on to a narrow 1-0 win over title rivals SuperSport United on Tuesday, despite being reduced to 10-men for the entire second half of the clash.

In Hlatshwayo, Mkhwanazi, Onismor Bhasera and Nazeer Allie, the Braamfontein-based club boasts one of the most experienced and talented back fours in the country.

"They are all good players, Buhle did well today - a lot of heading and I have to give credit to him," 'Tyson' said in the aftermath.

"Allie, Bhasera are experienced players and my combination with Buhle is building up, working. I do think we have one of the best defensive lines in the league."

Hlatshwayo played with Allie at Ajax Cape Town and is delighted to have been reunited with the experienced fullback in Gauteng.

"Obviously I know what type of guy he [Allie] is. We almost have similar personalities and we talk a lot. We were close at Ajax and I'm happy he joined Wits so we can keep the relationship moving forward."
