New Al Ahly coach coach Jose Peseiro says he’s aware that the Egyptian giants are a big club and he will do his best to bring back the glory days.
The coach was speaking to Ahram Online after he was unveiled as the Red Devils’ new mentor, taking over from the sacked Fathi Mabrouk.
Following their first unsuccessful season since 2004, Ahly management axed manager Mabrouk and appointed Abdel-Aziz 'Zizo' Abdel-Shafi as the caretaker, who guided them to win the Super Cup over arch rivals Zamalek last Thursday.

“I know there are worries regarding my appointment, but I will prove to the big Ahly crowd that I am capable of returning the team back to their glorious days," said the new coach.
"I didn't come to Egypt for money and I’m hoping I can create success, similar to Manuel Jose's accomplishments.
"Ahly is a really big club and can only be compared with Real Madrid in terms of popularity and media attention.”
The Portuguese-speaking coach has previously worked at Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid, Saudi Arabia national team, Panathinaikos as well as United Arab Emirate's Al-Wehda.
