Mauritania will host Mali in Nouakchott on Saturday, in the return leg of their 2016 African Nations Championship Zone West A qualifying tie.

The ‘Mourabitounes’ will be looking to overturn a narrow deficit in front of their home crowd, after falling 2-1 in Bamako in the first leg.

One goal down at the break after Taghiyoullah Denna put the visitors ahead from the spot in the eighth minute, the local Eagles managed to level matters through an Aly Abeid’s own goal in the 67th minute before scoring a stoppage-time winner, thanks to Abdoulaye Diarra.

“All is not lost,” ‘Mauritania coach Corentin Martins insisted.

“But we need to play our game and be 200%.”

Indeed, despite the last-minute defeat, the ‘Mourabitounes’ seem to have what it takes to get a good result in Nouakchott and their away goal in Bamako could yet prove decisive.

The aggregate winners will qualify for the tournament’s finals, which will take place in Rwanda between 16 January and 7 February 2016.

The match will kick off at Stade Olympique de Nouakchott at 19h00 CAT on Saturday 24 October.
