New Al Ahly coach Jose Peseiro has urged the club’s supporters to come back to the field of play and support the Red Devils.
The coach was speaking to Ahram Online after their 2-0 win over Ghazi El-Mahlla on Sunday in their second match of the Egyptian Premier League ,saying the fans must be allowed back to the stadium.
Zamalek, Ahly off to winning start
Goals by midfielders Abdallah El-Saied and Hossam Ghaly were enough to send the Devils to victory.
Still, the coach's main focus was to say there must be a solution on crowd bans.
"We need to find a solution for the crowd bans as playing without fans is very difficult," Peseiro said.
"We have to repeat what happened in the Super Cup game in Emirates as that added pleasure to the game.”
The call by the coach comes after football spectators have been banned in Egypt since February 2012 when 72 Ahly fans passed away in the Port Said Stadium disaster.
However, in February 2015, the ban was lifted but immediately re-imposed after 20 Zamalek fans died in a stampede at the Cairo Air Defence Stadium.
"It's the first time for me to lead games without fans attending," Peseiro added.
"The Ghazl El-Mahalla game was more difficult than the Talae El-Geish meeting, but Ahly deserved the victory.”
