Senegal came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw with Madagascar in Antananarivo on Friday afternoon, in the first leg of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying tie.

The visitors stormed back from being two-down with twenty minutes remaining, thanks to back-to-back goals from Moussa Konaté and Sadio Mané.

While enjoying most of the possession against less-fancied Madagascar in the first 45 minutes, Senegal struggled to create clear-cut chances, ultimately going into half-time one goal down through Andriatsima’s 27th minute opener.

And Njiva Rakotoharimalala doubled the locals’ lead just before the hour mark, much to the joy of the home crowd of Stade Municipal de Mahamasina.

However, second-half substitute Moussa Konaté pulled a goal back for the Lions on 71 minutes, with Southampton playmaker Sadio Mané levelling things up ten minutes later to earn Senegal a point.

Aliou Cissé’s men will definitely have to up their game when they host their opponents in Dakar for the return leg on 17 November.
