Senegal thrashed Madagascar 3-0 (5-2 on aggregate) to secure their place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (CAF) third-round at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor on Tuesday night.
Europe-based trio Cheikhou Kouyate, Moussa Konate and Mame Biram Diouf scored for the Lions of Teranga on the night. Senegal and Madagascar had played to a 2-2 draw in the first-leg in Antananarivo on Friday.
Barea managed to hold the Lions of Teranga in the opening stages of the game. However, Senegal captain Cheikhou Kouyate put his side in the lead in the 20th minute.
The visitors tried to respond with a goal, but they were unable to crack the solid-looking Senegal backline. The score was 1-0 to the home side during the half-time break.
Just seven minutes after the restart 22-year-old FC Sion striker Moussa Konate doubled Senegal's lead with a decent finish. The Lions of Teranga were now leading 4-2 on aggregate.
Madagascar head coach Franck Rajaonarisamba then introduced Paulin Voavy for Abel Andrianantenaina a minute later as the visitors looked to grab their first goal of the night.
Nevertheless, Stoke City striker Mame Biram Diouf sealed Senegal's 3-0 victory with eight minutes left on the clock.
Senegal won 5-2 on aggregate and advanced to the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (CAF) third-round.
