Nigeria are likely to rest strikers Tunde Adeneji and Chisom Chikatara for today’s friendly against fellow CHAN-bound Angola after they suffered knocks in a test game on Tuesday against PSL side University of Pretoria.

Former international and liason officer Tijjani Babangida said Adeniji, who scored twice in a 3-0 win over University of Pretoria, pulled out of the game with a muscle strain complaint after he scored his second goal, while Chikatara got a slight hamstring.

Adeniji scored 16 goals for Sunshine Stars this past season, while Chikatara was one of the leading lights at Abia Warriors.

“The boys are coming up from what we saw in this game, but two strikers Adeniji and Chisom suffered knocks during the game,” disclosed Babangida.

The Eagles are scheduled to also play another warm-up match against Cote d’Ivoire on January 11 before they depart for Rwanda on January 15.
