Enyimba captain Chinedu Udoji has said they are gunning for victory at Uganda champions Vipers SC when they clash in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
He said the Nigeria champions must win in Kampala this afternoon to stand a chance of advancing to the next round.
The 26-year-old defender, who as captain has never made it past the first round, said those failures still haunt him and only a better outing this time will ease the pain.
"Everyone who knows me knows I love to win and being the captain of Enyimba, a club that always wants to win trophies, the pressure to succeed is even greater,” Udoji told his club’s website.
“I am not happy that in our last two outings we exited the competition early. I still feel bad about it so my desire for the team to do well this time is very strong.
"This time we want to break that hoodoo and reach the group stage."
He further said: "We are playing Vipers, the current champions of Uganda and we know they are a good side, but we just have no choice than to win and move on to the next round. This is very important to me.
“The game will not be easy, but we have no choice than to win, by the help of God and with the determination of the boys.
"My message to the fans is to pray for us, even as we promise to play very well and return to Nigeria with a good result. They should support us, show us love and we will always make them proud."
