Nasarawa defeated Generation Foot of Senegal 2-1 in a Confederation Cup preliminary round clash, while Warri Wolves enjoyed a walkover against Sporting Praia Cruz from Sao Tome and Principe in the Champions League.

Striker Tayo Fabiyi gave hosts Nasarawa an early lead at the Abuja National Stadium, before the visitors drew level.

Nasarawa grabbed the match winner in the dying moments of the contest through Seun Sogbesan after a Generation Foot player handled the ball inside his box off a free kick taken by skipper Emmanuel Makama.

The return leg match will be played in Senegal in a fortnight.

Nigeria’s flag bearers in the Champions League, Warri Wolves will battle Al Merriekh of Sudan in the first round of the competition after they walked over absent Sporting Praia on Sunday.
