Nigeria striker Peter Utaka has said he hopes he could carry his rich form into an Asian Champions League game as Sanfreece Hiroshima host Chinese team Shandong Luang in Japan.

Utaka scores and wins Super Cup in Japan

Utaka, who marked his Hiroshima debut with a goal and Super Cup title at the weekend, said his team must be at their best from start to finish against a team who are strange to them.

"We will go into the game like a fighter and hopeful to win like a champions," Utaka declared.

"We are ready for the game and the tournament as a whole, at the same time we must be expecting a tougher game than it was against Gamba Osaka because this is a team we know practically nothing about, so we must be totally ready from start to finish to get victory."

Utaka said he's looking forward to a better outing in Asia Champions League having played in the tournament while at Beijing Guoan of China.

"I want to try more and be focused so as to move forward with Sanfreece Hiroshima, some years back, I played against Hiroshima in the AFC, now I am playing for the team, so I think I am destined to be here for greater success," Utaka told AfricanFootball.com
