Top sources have informed AfricanFootball.com that Sunday Oliseh was aware of a failed attempt by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to replace him with former Cote d’Ivoire coach Herve Renard.
Why I quit - Oliseh
It was alleged that top NFF officials led by "all-powerful" technical committee chairman Chris Green and the president approached Frenchman Renard after the Super Eagles crashed out of the CHAN in Rwanda.
“Oliseh was very much aware of this move and he knew all those who contacted Renard,” a top official disclosed only to AfricanFootball.com
"These officials have good contacts with the coach.
“But unfortunately for them, the French coach said he will not take up the job because he is afraid of Boko Haram
(the terrorist organization which has killed over 17,000 people since 2009).”
The coach has won the AFCON with Zambia (2012) and Cote d’Ivoire (2015).
Renard then Zambia coach was also approached by the NFF soon after the 2010 AFCON in Angola to take over the Super Eagles.
He will later sign a lucrative contract with oil-rich Angola.
