A brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang handed Borussia Dortmund a 2-1 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Thursday night, in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie.
Following their comfortable 3-0 thrashing of Spurs in Germany in the first leg, Dortmund cruised to the last eight of Europe’s second-tier club competition 5-1 on aggregate.
There was already not much suspense left at half-time, after the Gabon international had put the visitors ahead with a superb strike from range in the 24th
minute to leave Tottenham with the uphill task to score five goals without reply in the second half.
However, Aubameyang went on to score his 10th
goal in the competition to double Dortmund’s advantage with twenty minutes remaining.
And while Heung-min Son pulled a goal back three minutes later, it was far too little and much too late for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
