Cape Verde new head coach Felisberto ‘Beto’ Cardoso has named his final 25-man squad ahead of their double header with Morocco in Group F of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
‘Beto’, who succeeded Portuguese tactician Rui Aguas at the helm of Africa’s new top ranked nation in January, handed a maiden international call-up to 25-year-old Dutch-born striker Jerson Cabral, who represented the Netherlands at youth level.
However, the team includes many familiar faces with the likes of keeper Vozinha, defenders Fernando Varela and Stopira, midfielders Babanco and Marco Soares, and forwards Heldon, Djaniny and Ryan Mendes.
Lying neck and neck at the top of the group on maximum points, the two sides will battle for first place and a foot in the tournament’s finals in Gabon.
The Tubaroes Azul will host the Atlas Lions in Praia on 26 March, before travelling to Agadir three days later.
