Enyimba will face Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in the CAF Champions League second round despite losing 2-1 at Vital’O of Burundi in a return leg match.
The Nigeria champions went through 6-3 on aggregate having won the first game at home 5-1.
Ikechukwu Ibenegbu gave Enyimba the lead after 28 minutes in Bujumbura, before Vital’O drew level two minutes later through Shasiri Nahimana.
Burundi international striker Laudit Mavugo scored a second goal for the home team on 65 minutes, but it was too little too late for Vital’O.
They will now face Etoile du Sahel, who beat Morocco’s Olympique Khourigba 3-1 on aggregate.
Both teams played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Morocco, before Etoile won 2-0 at home courtesy of goals by Ahmed Akaichi and Michaliou Drame.
