Malawi will look to pick up their first win in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when they host Guinea for a Group L clash in Blantyre on Tuesday afternoon. Kick-off at the Kamuzu Stadium is set for 14h30 CAT.

The teams played to a goalless stalemate in Conakry on Friday, a result which did neither any real favours: they are tied in third and fourth place respectively on two points, three adrift of co-leaders Zimbabwe and Swaziland.

However, a victory for either team in this match would bring them right back into contention, and both the Flames and the Syli National will be determined to rack up three points.

The game is especially vital to hosts Malawi, who would have considered the draw in Conakry a fine result, but only if they can back it up with a victory on home soil.

Ernest Mtawali’s decision to give young goalkeeper Brighton Munthali his international debut against Guinea paid dividends and he is expected to once again put his faith in the gloves-man.

Mauritian referee Parmendra Nunkoo will take charge of the game in Blantyre. The other Group L clash sees Zimbabwe host Swaziland in Harare on Monday.
