The Group M 2017 Africa Cup of Nation Qualifier between Gambia and Mauritania failed to produce a winner as they played to a 0-0 draw at the Independence Stadium in Bakau (Gambia) on Tuesday.

Despite coming into the match aiming for a win and avenge the 2-1 loss on Friday in the first leg, the hosts, Gambia, couldn't bag the full three points at home.

Try as they might, the two nations couldn't give their supporters something to cheer about.

Mauritania have six points after beating South Africa and Gambia in the first leg last week, and they now have seven points.

The draw will come as a blow to the visitors as they could have closed the gap or gone ahead of Hugo Broos' Cameroon on the log.

The Les Mourabitones are behind the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon who are leading the pack with seven points after two stalemates against Bafana Bafana.

On the other hand, the Scorpions have had a disappointing campaign with two points having lost two matches and drawn two against Shakes Mashaba's side and Mauritania respectively.

Mauritania line up: Souleimane, M. Diaw, O. Ndiaye, Abdoul Ba, A. Abdeid, K. Camara, Y. Dellahi, T. Denne, I. Diakite, B. Baguili, M. Ahmed
