Nigeria assistant coach Fatai Amoo has said if he were to choose, he would want the country to avoid Rio Olympics hosts Brazil in the first round of the competition, while also praying for luck in this afternoon’s draw as well as the competition itself.

Amoo led an experimental Nigeria team to beat Brazil 1-0 in a Rio Olympics warm-up last month, but he has said the Samba Stars will have everything going for them at the tournament as the home team.

“If I were to choose, Brazil will be the country to avoid,” he said.

"They are the home team and the crowd and everything possible will be behind them.”

Amoo also prayed for luck in the draw as well as the competition, which will begin on August 3.

“We pray for luck in the draw as well as during the competition itself so that we will get good results,”he said.

Brazil, who are yet to clinch the Olympic soccer Gold, are the lead seed in Pot 1, while Nigeria are in Pot 2.

The draw will start from 2.30pm Nigerian time today.
