Jomo Cosmos midfielder Thabang Monare says they were unlucky to lose 1-0 to Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday night, saying they will fight for their lives against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The midfielder was speaking to AfricanFootball.com on Thursday after dominating the proceedings against the second-placed Clever Boys at home. However, they failed to score and lost.
As they are now focusing on the Brazilians in an aim to rescue their Premier Soccer League status, 'Desh' believes they just need luck and they will not stop working hard.
“If you give such performance as a team and end us on the losing side it hurts, but we need to keep trying until the luck comes,” said Monare.
SOUTH AFRICANS ABROAD – WEEKEND PREVIEW
“We need to keep grinding, I believe the harder you work the luckier you become.
“It's not going to be easy against Sundowns, they don't want to drop points as league title contenders....just like us, we cant afford to slip up and we'll go harder at them.
“You saw the determination against Wits, the football we played against Wits and we need to continue.
“I'm confident chances will come and I think we just have to create more – the goals will come.”
Ezenkosi suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the log leading Pitso Mosimane's side in the reverse fixture and will be gunning for revenge on Saturday evening.
On the log table, Cosmos sit at number 15 and will fight for the full three points and escape the relegation axe. The match gets underway at 18:00 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
