University of Pretoria head coach Shaun Bartlett says his troops need to make life difficult for Mamelodi Sundowns, as they gear up to face the Absa Premiership league leaders in the Tshwane Derby on Wednesday.
The Bafana Bafana legend and ex-Lamontville Golden Arrows coach was speaking to the club's official website ahead of the clash, underlining the importance of the fixture.
Bartlett's side are fresh from a 1-0 defeat against fellow relegation rivals, Jomo Cosmos, and the match against Pitso Mosimane's team presents a chance to redeem themselves.
AmaTuks are desperate for points as they occupy the 15th spot with 21 points from 27 matches, while the Brazilians only need four points to be assured of a seventh league title.
“I don't think Sundowns will come to us and relax, they will want to win the league as quickly as possible and they might see us as their opportunity to get the points they need,” said Bartlett.
AJAX LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK
“We have to make sure we make it as difficult as possible. This is our home game and we have to increase our tempo and improve our passing when going forward.
“We know what they can do going forward but they do have some vulnerabilities at the back and for me it is about picking the right team that I think can go out there and do the job.
“It is important for me now that the players recover well for that game.”
Bartlett will welcome back defender Partson Jaure from suspension whilst missing midfielder Mpho Maruping.
On the other hand, Mosimane is set to be without key striker Leonardo Castro who was on target against Kaizer Chiefs in their 3-1 win last weekend, due to suspension.
The encounter is set to be staged at Tuks Stadium. Kick-off is at 19h30.
