Botswana captain Joel Mogorosi has moved swiftly to apologise to the nation following a photo of Zebras players buying alcohol while in the team’s colours emerged in social media.
The team were on their day off following their 2-1 victory over Lesotho in an international friendly at the Serowe Sports Complex in Serowe on Saturday.
The photo caused a storm on social media and Township Rollers forward Mogorosi has admitted their behaviour was unacceptable when speaking to local media.
"We were caught in a moment and there is nothing to justify. We should have known better and we have to take a stick for that," Mogorosi said.
"We learn through such incidents and as a leader I am saying it is something that we'll never repeat. We apologise sincerely to the nation."
The Zebras will take on Malawi in another friendly at the Francistown Sports Complex in the City of Francistown on Saturday.
