Mpumalanga Black Aces shot stopper Shu-Aib Walters has tipped fellow nominee Denis Onyango to scoop the Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season accolade.

The two goal-minders have been nominated for the prestigious award alongside  Bidvest Wits stalwart Moneeb Josephs.

Walters believes he has a good chance of winning the accolade having helped AmaZayoni to a fourth place finish in the league. The 34-year-old, though, is realistic about his chances.

"I would say Denis deserves it; because they won the league and he has kept quite a lot of clean sheets," Walters told "But I think it should be a fair game and maybe according to man-of-the-matches, only counting games in the league...maybe [I have a chance]."

Onyango won both the 2015-16 Absa Premiership and Telkom Knockout titles with the Brazilians, keeping 12 clean sheets in 22 league games. Walters kept 10 clean sheets in as many games, with Josephs having kept 14, - but in five more games.

The Uganda international, Onyango, has also been nominated for the Telkom Knockout Player of the Season gong.

The PSL awards ceremony is set to take place at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park on Monday evening. It all kicks-off at 20h30 CAT.
