Malawi national team skipper Chiukepo Msowoya has urged the team's supporters to rally behind them as they travel to Zimbabwe.

The Flames are on the road to honour their 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against the Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

The Nyasa Times publication has it that Malawi received a timely boost of K50 million from sponsors, Carlsberg Malawi. for their upcoming international assignments.

The former Orlando Pirates striker ,who now plays for Costa Do Sol in Mozambique, has now appealed to the fans to show their support.

“We request support for the players as this is all our team. We quickly need to forget the past errors, we need to release the burden of the past so we can travel lighter to the future,” said Msowoya.

“Let’s try to travel faster forward there is not time to waste.

“As the players, the only way we will get stronger is when we get your support – support not only from Carlsberg or the Association, but the media and public.”

On the other hand, ex-skipper Josephy Kamwendo added that they will go all out and fight for a win in Harare.

“We will release our energies and be more positive, get the attitude right and try to win the match (against Zimbabwe),” added Kamwendo.

“There is very little you can do in terms of being better than you were yesterday but I am optimistic we will get a result.

“The players are feeling down, and it’s normal but we are all professionals and it happens in football.

“We are all looking forward to Saturday’s game and we have to lift ourselves up again mentally and physically more so because the results in the last game were not good enough.”

Ernest Mtawali's men will meet Kalisto Pasuwa's side on Sunday afternoon at National Sports Stadium in Harare at 15h00.
