AFCON Qualifiers, Saturday 4 June – LIVE
The result ended Rwanda’s chance of qualifying at the top of Group H – they currently occupy second spot in the qualifying group with six points, four points behind Ghana who play Mauritius on Sunday.
The win for Mozambique is their first in the qualifying campaign which sees them up to four points, but still bottom of Group H.
Pelembe opened the scoring to give Mozambique the lead in the tenth minute, but Jacques Tuyisenge restored parity for Rwanda in the 37th minute.
Their joy was short-lived as Mozambique re-took the lead on the stroke of half time courtesy of a strike from Apson Manjate leaving it 2-1 at the break.
Rwanada came out strong in the second half and restored parity for the second time in the 78th minute courtesy of a second goal from Tuyisenge, 2-2.
The match looked to be heading for a stalemate until a goal eight minutes from time by Pelembe handed Mozambique the 3-2 win.
