Malawi and Lesotho will clash for a place in the knockout stages of the 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup on Thursday evening.

Tied on six-points apiece after two rounds of fixtures, victory for either side will not only secure top spot in Group B, but also set up a clash against South Africa in the quarterfinals.

The winner is set to go head-to-head with three-time champions Bafana Bafana this Saturday.

Lesotho beat Mauritius 3-0 in their opening game of the tournament before edging Angola 2-0 to cement their place atop the group standings due to a superior goal difference.

The Flames of Malawi hammered a youthful Angolan side 3-0 in the first match before scraping past Mauritius 1-0 to set up an appetizing clash against the mountainous nation.

Bidvest Wits bound Frank Gabadinho Mhango has scored three of Malawi's four goals at the Southern African tournament - the forward bagged a hat-trick in the win over the Palancas Negras.

Lesotho have had five different goal-scorers.

Both teams have in the past suffered defeat in the final of the Cosafa Cup. Malawi, who won last year's Plate competition lost in two successive finals (2002, 2003) while Lesotho ended as runners-up 16 years ago.

Kick-off at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek is scheduled for 18h00 CAT.
